kenetrek boot review

When it comes to hunting gear one of the most important items you can invest in are boots. Putting in a lot of miles with the wrong boots can make or break your hunt of a lifetime. I had the chance to try out the new Kenetrek Bridger High boots, after running the Kenetrek Hardscrabble for a few seasons. If you are looking for a stiff but light weight boot the Bridger High is one to look into.

I would put this boot at about a 3.5 to 4 on the flex rating. The boot also comes in at 2.9 lbs where the Hardscrabble weighs in at 3.5 lbs. Having a stiffer boot helps when side hilling with heavy loads on your back, or when you have to climb up steep and rugged terrain.

Fitment

These boots do run pretty close to true to size. I would have to say though, that the volume in the toe box area is pretty narrow. I have a standard width foot and they were a little snug compared to some of the other Kenetrek boots I have worn in the past. When sizing, take into consideration that you do want a little room in the front of the boot. That would be a little space between your toes and the front of the boot. This will ensure you don't have your toes slam against the front of the boot when going down hill. This will also help with blisters and other problems you might encounter.

Support

These boots have the Kenetrek Windtex waterproofing that is breathable and will keep your feet dry when crossing creeks, trekking through snow or a rainstorm. With these boots I felt that my ankle was well supported, that could be due to the K-Straps and the padded ankle collar that offers support as well as comfort. The lacing on these boots go all the way down to just above the toe. This gives you the options to snug the boot up around your foot for side hilling and/or hiking down hill.

These boots can conquer anything you can put them through. I have put a lot of miles through them from high up in the high country in the steep, cliffy and rocky terrain, and down to rolling desert hills.

While every boot out there will fill a different need, this boot will get you through when the going gets steep and the temps are high. I am pretty rough on my boots, these boots are rugged and have handled the abuse I still put them through. The boots have pretty good traction even when they were full of mud, with the K-lug design. I have been pretty pleased with these Kenetrek Bridger High boots

If you are looking for a new pair of boots, and like a boot that is on the stiffer side dont over look this boot as an option. I truly think they can help you conquer any terrain the mountains might throw your way.
