The BlackOvis Keele Heavyweight + Merino Hoodie takes a different approach to a heavyweight insulating layer of merino. Often when in an attempt to get a warmer merino layer, it comes at a cost of weight to the point of a shirt or other item that is just too heavy (ounces) to make it comfortable, especially for backpack hunting. By using a French Terry weave, BlackOvis takes a 250 gram weight merino base with the French Terry loops on the back of it to create air pockets that provide more warmth than a traditional flat backed merino base layer. In this way the Keele Hoodie performs more like a 290 gram weight merino without the added ounces. Aside from the warmth capabilities, this merino is exceptionally soft and comfortable. Highly comfortable thumb loops and ample sleeve length make this a must have in your merino layering kit.
